India Overtakes Iran to Become Country with 10th Highest Number of Covid Cases

I have been doing Data Analytics Studies on the Coronavirus Pandemic for 71 days and have written 124 research-based blog posts on COVID-19 in these 71 days.

India is now No.10 in the list of 213 countries and territories (plus 2 cruise ships) which have reported Covid-19 cases. It overtook Iran to reach this position today.

The country has been continuously climbing the ranks in number of cases for the past 40 days. India was ranked No.21 on April 14, No.17 on April 19, No.16 on April 24, No.15 on April 29, No.15 on May 4, No.14 on May 9, No.12 on May 14, No.11 on May 19 and also yesterday (May 24).

Other big climbers include Brazil, Russia, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Mexico, Pakistan, Qatar, and Bangladesh. Apart from Russia, all these countries are in South America, South Asia (Indian Subcontinent), or the Middle East. In all probability, they are late arrivals into the Top 25 list of countries with most number of cases as they started aggressive testing quite late, just like India.

Brazil was ranked No.14 on April 14, No.12 on April 19, No.11 on April 24, No.11 on April 29, No.9 on May 4, No.8 on May 9, No.6 on May 14, No.4 on May 19 and No.2 yesterday.

Russia was ranked No.15 on April 14, No.10 on April 19, No.10 on April 24, No.8 on April 29, No.7 on May 4, No.5 on May 9, No.3 on May 14, No.2 on May 19 and No.3 yesterday.

Peru was ranked No.22 on April 14, No.19 on April 19, No.18 on April 24, No.16 on April 29, No.14 on May 4, No.13 on May 9, No.13 on May 14, No.12 on May 19 and yesterday.

Saudi Arabia was not in the Top 25 on April 14, April 19, or April 24. It was No.22 on April 29, No.19 on May 4, No.18 on May 9, No.17 on May 14, No.15 on May 19 and yesterday.

Chile was not in the Top 25 on April 14, April 19, April 24, April 29, or May 4. It was No.25 on May 9, No.22 on May 14, No.19 on May 19 and No.17 yesterday. Chile has overtaken Mexico to the No.16 rank today.

Mexico was not in the Top 25 on April 14, April 19, April 24, or April 29. It was No.21 on May 4, No.19 on May 9, No.19 on May 14, No.18 on May 19 and No.16 yesterday. It has been overtaken by Chile today.

Pakistan was not in the Top 25 on April 14, April 19, April 24, April 29, or May 4. It was No.22 on May 9, No.21 on May 14 and May 19 and No.19 yesterday.

Qatar was not in the Top 25 on April 14, April 19, April 24, April 29, May 4, or May 9. It was No.24 on May 14, No.23 on May 19 and No.21 yesterday. It is at No.20 today, having overtaken Netherlands.

Bangladesh was not in the Top 25 on April 14, April 19, April 24, April 29, May 4, May 9, May 14, or May 19. It was No.24 yesterday.
