I have been conducting Data Analytics Studies on the Coronavirus Pandemic for 100 days and have written 157 research-based blog posts on COVID-19 in these 100 days.
As expected over the past month or so, Brazil has become the 2nd country after USA to cross one million Covid-19 cases. USA’s most recent tally is 2.282 million cases. Russia is third with 569,063 cases and India fourth with 395,812 cases.
It had taken Brazil 69 days to reach its first 100,000 cases, 11 days to cross 200,000 cases, 7 days to cross 300,000 cases, 6 days to cross 400,000 cases, only 4 days to cross the 500,000 (half million) case mark, 4 days to cross 600,000 cases, 4 days to cross 700,000 cases, only 3 days to cross 800,000 cases, then 5 days to cross 900,000 cases, and now only 4 days to cross 1,000,000 cases.
The country has reported an average of 25,696 new cases per day during the last 23 days. This is more than one out of every five of the 126,158 daily cases reported worldwide in these 23 days. This is higher than USA’s average 22,848 new daily cases in this period. If we consider only the past 12 days, Brazil has reported an average of 25,814 new daily cases compared to USA’s 22,926 average new daily cases.
At the current growth rate, Brazil is expected to cross 1.5 million Covid-19 cases in the next 19-20 days.
