I have been doing Data Analytics Studies on the Coronavirus Pandemic for 88 days and have written 142 research-based blog posts on COVID-19 in these 88 days.
By the time this piece of bad news (isn’t there bad news almost every day nowadays, in any case?) comes out, most Americans would already be fast asleep. But Australians and Kiwis (New Zealanders) will wake up to this news as they begin a fresh week.
Yes, the United States of America (USA) has crossed 2,000,000 (two million) Covid-19 cases. USA has 28.4% of the world’s total 7.063 million cases. USA’s case count is higher than the next 5 countries — Brazil, Russia, Spain, the UK, and India — put together.
The No.2 country in cases, Brazil, is far behind, with 678,360 cases. The top 3 American states — New York, New Jersey, and California — have a higher case count of 694,640.
At 112,449 deaths, the US has 27.8% of the world’s death count of 404,557. This is higher than the next 3 countries — the UK, Brazil, and Italy — put together. The No.2 country in number of deaths, the UK, is far behind the USA, with 40,542 deaths. The top 2 American states — New York and New Jersey, — have a higher death count of 42,645.
America reached from 250,000 to 500,000 cases in 8 days, from 500,000 to 750,000 in 9 days, from 750,000 to 1,000,000 (1.0 million) in 8 days, from 1.0 million to 1.25 million in 9 days, from 1.25 million to 1.5 million in 10 days, from 1.5 million to 1.75 million in 11 days, and from 1.75 million to 2.0 million also in 11 days. As the average new cases per day in the last 10 days have been 22,968, it should take another 11 days for USA to reach the milestone of 2.25 million cases.
