I have been doing Data Analytics Studies on the Coronavirus Pandemic for 88 days and have written 143 research-based blog posts on COVID-19 in these 88 days.
With 4,728 new COVID-19 cases added to its tally this morning, Pakistan become the 16th country to cross 100,000 cases. At a current case count of 103,671, Pakistan has overtaken Saudi Arabia’s No.15 rank, although the latter is likely to overtake Pakistan once again by the end of the day.
It took Pakistan 14 days to reach from 25,000 to 50,000 cases, 11 days from 50,000 to 75,000 cases and only 6 days from 75,000 to 100,000 cases. The country’s first Covid case was reported on February 26, or 103 days ago. Since then, it has clocked an average of 1,007 cases per day.
With an average of 4,459 new cases per day in the last 7 days, Pakistan is emerging as a new “warm spot” for the Coronavirus disease. I will not call it a “hotspot” until the daily average of new cases reaches 7,000+ and let’s hope that does not happen.
Pakistan now has 470 Cases per Million residents (CPM) having conducted 3,200 Tests per Million residents (TPM), compared with 399.6 CPM (with 2,418 TPM) in Bangladesh and 187.2 CPM (with 3,462 TPM) in India. Pakistan’s Fatality Rate (Deaths as a percentage of Cases) of 1.99% is lower than India’s 2.79% but higher than Bangladesh’s 1.35%
In Asia, Pakistan now ranks at No.4 in cases, behind India, Iran, and Turkey.
